Amie Rice - Physiotherapist & Pilates Instructor

Qualifications

Amie graduated from the University of Queensland with a Masters of Physiotherapy Studies in 2013, after completing a Bachelor of Human Movement Studies (Exercise Physiology) in 2011 at the Queensland University of Technology.

Experience and Interests

Amie has a keen interest in rehabilitating athletes, having worked with the Moreton Bay College Artistic and Rhythmic gymnasts and Coolangatta Bluebirds AFL team. In conjunction with sports-related rehab, Amie also enjoys working with lower back pain conditions, lower limb pathologies and providing exercise prescription to help people meet their various goals. She also has an interest in nutrition and its effect on pathologies, rehab and recovery.

Other Interests

Amie enjoys keeping active; including but not limited to competing in team triathlons with the Advantage Healthcare family! With previously being a competitive gymnast and track and field athlete, Amie enjoys integrating her previous experience with current knowledge into treatment plans for her patients. She also enjoys running around after her little family, keeping active and travelling.

Anthony Do - Physiotherapist

Qualifications

Anthony graduated from the University of Queensland with a Masters of Physiotherapy Studies in 2019 after completing a Bachelor of Medical Imaging Science at QUT in 2013. 

Experience and Interests

Anthony has experience treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including acute knee and ankle injuries and chronic neck and lower back conditions. Anthony has a special interest in post surgical rehabilitation and chronic lower back rehabilitation. 

Other Interests

In his spare time Anthony enjoys playing basketball and keeping fit by regularly training in the gym. 

Calum Fraser - Physiotherapist

Qualifications

Calum completed his Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 2005. 

Experience and Interests

Calum has a keen interest in rehabilitating injuries, whether sporting; a sprained ankle, a dislocated shoulder or a muscular imbalance created by years of lifting weights, or work-related; shoulder pain from overhead lifting or back tightness from sitting too long at a desk. As well as working with athletes he has also worked with a major Australian airline performing injury screens/manual handling and rehabilitating their staff. Workplace injuries while different from sporting injuries often share some common similarities.

Other interests

Calum enjoys all aspects of sport including athletics, soccer and weight training when he is able to squeeze it into his busy lifestyle.

Charles Colen - Physiotherapist & Pilates Instructor

Qualifications

After years of working in the finance industry as a CPA accountant, Charles decided to pursue his passion for helping people. He graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2008.

Experience and Interests

While studying, Charles spent 3 years working with the Brisbane Strikers soccer team as well as other Aussie Rules and Rugby League teams.

Charles joined the Advantage Healthcare and Physiotherapy team in 2009. He has a special interest in acupuncture and dry needling. He also enjoys teaching Pilates and helping people to achieve their rehabilitation goals.

Other Interests

Charles has participated in Tae-kwon-Do for the past 20 years and in 2011 travelled to Denver as the team Physiotherapist for 55 competitors at an international tournament. He also enjoys bushwalking and tinkering with computers.

Deshni Gopal - Physiotherapist & Pilates Instructor

Qualifications

Deshni graduated from Auckland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy in 2002. In addition to this, she gained a certificate in Sports Performance Massage through Auckland University of Technology in 2000.

Experience and Interests

Through her love of travel, Deshni has gained broad-based experience in the field of musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, working in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom. While in the UK she gained experience in post-surgical orthopaedic patients to add to her musculoskeletal base.

Deshni has been working at Advantage Healthcare and Physiotherapy since 2009, and through excellent mentorship has developed a keen interest in pooling her skills and knowledge to help complex patients with longer-term rehabilitation needs. In addition to this, she also enjoys sports and occupational related treatment and rehabilitation.

Other Interests

Deshni’s interests include adventure travel and trekking and exploring the far corners of the world. She has also been a competitive swimmer and volleyball player, and she tries to integrate her knowledge from Tai Chi and Yoga into her Physiotherapy practice.

Eleni Cody - Physiotherapist & Pilates Instructor

Qualifications

Eleni started her career as a Personal Trainer after studying Human Movement Studies (Exercise Science) in 2000. It was here that she developed her interest in injuries and rehabilitation, and went on to study a Master of Physiotherapy Studies at the University of Queensland (2005).

Experience and Interests

Eleni joined Advantage Healthcare and Physiotherapy in 2007. She has a keen interest in Women’s Health, having studied further since graduating.  She has a special interest in helping women with pelvic floor weakness, bladder problems, returning to exercise post-birth and assisting women with prolapse. Eleni also enjoys teaching Pilates and rehabilitation and progressing individuals, of all ages and abilities, through their strengthening and fitness program.

Eleni also enjoys working with patients with musculoskeletal conditions and seeing them overcome their injuries. She uses adjunct therapies such as acupuncture, dry needling and cupping.

Other Interests

Eleni is a busy mum of two young children. In her “free” time she enjoys being in the outdoors, running, going to the beach, catching up with friends and family and eating out!

Jenny Kim - Physiotherapist & Pilates Instructor

Qualifications

Jenny completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) from the University of Queensland in 2017. Jenny completed her Pilates qualification through the Pilates Institute of Queensland.

 Experience and Interests

Jenny has worked as a sports trainer for various school sports across Brisbane, as well as for the Women’s AFL team based in Coorparoo. During her studies, she enjoyed working with children as well as treating a variety of cases in hospitals. Jenny enjoys pilates and has a keen interest in clinical pilates and rehabilitation. Jenny also offers dry needling as a treatment modality to her patients.

 Other Interests

Jenny loves to travel, spend time with her dog and hang out with friends in her spare time. Other than participating in pilates during the week, she enjoys swimming, running, tennis and keeping up on piano and violin skills at home. In between all of that she enjoys finding great eating spots around Brisbane.

John Havill - Physiotherapist

Qualifications

John graduated from Otago Physiotherapy School, New Zealand in 1982 and has been a New Zealand and Australian registered physiotherapist for over 37 years.

During this time he has completed post graduate studies in the areas of Spinal Manipulative Therapy, Acupuncture and Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy. He has been Internationally Credentialed in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy since 1998 and was awarded an international scholarship to study spinal pain with the McKenzie Institute International, in the USA.

Experience and Interests

John has a special interest in low back pain, and this has guided his career in working as both a clinician and in research. Clinical breakthroughs he discovered lead him to develop technology that is now being used by the University of Otago in groundbreaking research into the prevention of low back pain, with multiple publications in the last decade (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017).

John has an extensive background in management of sports injuries, especially rugby union, athletics, netball and rowing having had his own clinics in both New Zealand and Johannesburg, South Africa. He has worked at national and All Black trials level with rugby union in New Zealand.

Other Interests

John is a passionate yachtsman which is why Moreton Bay and Wynnum/Manly are his home. He has a goal of completing a “Sydney to Hobart” and races on The Bay all year round.

As a rugby union fan John is reluctantly accepting that his allegiance to the New Zealand Chiefs time has come ……. he is in REDS country now.

John maintains a keen interest in live music and is a violinist.

Zoran Vukelic - Physiotherapist

Qualifications

Zoran graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic) in 1998. In order to work as a Physiotherapist in Australia, he completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland graduating in 2005.

Experience and Interests

Zoran has worked for Queensland Health in the hospital system since early 2006. He joined the Advantage Healthcare and Physiotherapy team in 2008.

Zoran has a special interest in orthopaedic and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, with a particular focus on neck and back injuries/problems.

Other Interests

Zoran was born in Bosnia and speaks English, Bosnian, Croatian, Czech and Serbian. While living in Sarajevo he was involved in pigeon racing, something which he would like to one day to get back into. Zoran enjoys basketball, soccer, swimming and tennis as well as fishing and camping where he can get close to nature.

Eleni Cody - Physiotherapist & Pilates Instructor

Qualifications

Dietician

Tracy L'Allier - Dietitian/Nutritionist

Qualifications

Tracy is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and has completed a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2005 at the University of Montreal, Canada. She is currently completing a Master of Medical Research at Griffith University, investigating the carbohydrate intake of Australian recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.  

Experience and Interests

Tracy has worked in clinical nutrition, food service management, private practise, aged care and did healthy cooking demonstrations. She has provided nutrition care to people across several specialties during her career. She specialises in weight management, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, cancer and malnutrition. She loves helping people understand the importance of the food and its impact on the body and health.  

Other Interests

Tracy is a homeschooling mum and understands the challenges of parenting as well as feeding little complex persons. She loves cooking, doing craft and sciences with the kids. She enjoys reading, painting, gardening and doing yoga.  

Exercise Physiologist

Vidur Joshi - Exercise Physiologist

Qualifications
Vidur graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Masters in Exercise Physiology (Clinical Expertise Practice) in 2010, after completing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2007 in India. Vidur is a current ongoing member of Exercise and Sports Science Australia and a lifetime member of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists.

Experience and Interests
Vidur enjoys working with clients of all ages. He has a special interest in musculoskeletal injury management, involving all major joints & muscles, and exercise prescription following joint replacements and reconstruction surgeries. He enjoys working with clients with various chronic health, cardiovascular and metabolic problems, and workplace injury management.

Other Interests
In Vidur’s spare time he likes reading books, listening to some good music, and playing cricket.

Remedial Massage Therapists

Leah Jordan - Remedial Massage Therapist

Qualifications

Leah graduated with a Cert 4 in Massage in Perth in 2006, she later studied her Diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy in 2010 in Tasmania.

Experience and Interests

Leah carries a wealth of knowledge about deep tissue massage, cupping, trigger point therapy and pregnancy massage. She continues her professional development to this day and is particularly interested in helping office workers with neck and shoulder issues, as well as people with sinus, and jaw issues, and tension headaches.

Other Interests

Leah is passionate about the health industry and giving tailored care to everyone she treats. In her spare time, Leah enjoys spending time with her family, live music, and anything outdoorsy, particularly if it’s around water.

Kate Jackson - Remedial Massage Therapist

Qualifications

Kate graduated with a Diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy in 2012 from the Endeavour College of Natural Health in Brisbane.  

Experience and interests

Kate brings to Advantage a wealth of experience and knowledge in the massage industry, having come from her own small clinic where she has practiced since graduating.  After two years she studied in order to train future therapists and returned to Endeavour College of Natural Health as a trainer.  She has really loved being able to share her passion for delivering quality therapeutic treatments.

In clinic, Kate uses a variety of techniques to assist with reduction of pain experience and/or improved movement quality and range.  She is especially interested in assisting clients experiencing dysfunction resulting from desk work as well as stress associated with living in a modern world.

Other interests

Kate really enjoys delivering client-centred treatments, focusing on each individual’s unique symptoms and lifestyle.  In her spare time she spends time with her young daughter going on adventures.  Kate grew up in Wynnum and loves the lifestyle that comes with being a local.
