This specialised form of massage therapy has many benefits. It is a more gentle form of massage intervention that differs from Swedish massage in that you, as the patient, need to activate your muscles in a particular way to receive the full benefit of MET.
MET uses a nerve related relaxation of muscles during and after a gentle muscle contraction to create an effect within the body. The effects include:
- Relaxation of muscular tissue
- Lengthening of muscular tissue
- Re-alignment of spinal and pelvic bones
- Balancing of muscles around a particular joint
MET can be used as a stand alone treatment, but is usually combined with a Remedial Massage session.
