Lymphatic fluid is fluid within your body that is not contained within blood vessels or cells.  Lymphatic fluid is how your body gets nutrients to all the cells of your body.  Everybody has it and it is completely normal.  Sometimes, however, the flow of lymphatic fluid can be restricted or excessive lymphatic fluid can be produced due to injury or surgery.  When this happens, your affected body part may appear swollen or puffy.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a technique aimed at enhancing the flow of lymphatic fluid around our body. It therefore stimulates the body's immune system to help remove wastes and toxins (detoxification). This technique involves gentle rhythmic pumping movements and is useful for a variety of conditions such as:

  • Oedema (excess fluid or swelling)
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Pregnancy
  • Post surgery
  • Mastectomy
  • Stress

It is true that all massage effects the lymphatic system, however these specific techniques (small and light strokes performed in a specific way) are aimed at maximally increasing the efficiency of the lymphatic system.

Due to how the lymphatic system works, it is important that treatments last for at least 1 hour for best results.

Massage therapy has some amazing benefits!
